I have always been fascinated by the sea. Already as a small baby I gravitated towards the breakers and my mother had a hard time keeping me safe. Nowadays I love to combine my 'en plein air' painting sessions at the beach with a swim. I can sit for hours watching the sea and skies: discovering the emerging patterns and colours. In the breakers I recognise patterns of my journey through art: alternating periods of turbulence and stillness.
